All-India strike to hit banking services hard - India News - IBNLive: "New Delhi: Trade unions have called for a nation-wide strike against price rise, privatisation of public sector undertakings, withdrawal of new pension scheme and a host of other issues on Tuesday. The all-India strike is being supported by eight major trade unions.
The major demands of the trade unions include rehabilitation of the workers who lost their jobs due to the economic recession and for Rs 50,000 crore for an unorganised workers' social security fund. The government has only allocated Rs 1,000 crore for 40 crore unorganised workers in the country. The trade unions which have called the strike include Congress-affiliated Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-affiliated Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS). The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, which is close to the Bharatiya Janata Party has not yet revealed its position." KANNADA MOVIE REVIEW - Pancharangi is a good family entertainer: Rediff.com movies
Pancharangi is a good family entertainer: Rediff.com movies: "Shruti Indira Lakshminarayan reviews the Kannada movie, Pancharangi.
Director Yograj Bhat's big release Pancharangi comes as a shot in the arm to the Kannada industry that is looking for hits. Pancharangi is a story that unfolds in a span of two days. Bharath (Diganth) meets Ambika (Nidhi Subaiah) in Mangalore. He has gone there with his family to fix the marriage of his elder brother with Ambika's sister. Bharath is a student of Kannada literature and is passionate about his language and land. He is a complete contrast to his US based 'well settled' software engineer brother and thus a 'black sheep' in the family. But Ambika, for whom this is hardly a cause of concern, falls for Bharath. Will Bharath, who walks around with a cynical view on love and life reciprocate her feelings? And what about the alliance between his brother and Ambika's sister? This is where we take a backseat. Education, love, profession, marriage, family... Bhat tackles these serious issues in a fun and non-preachy way and kudos to him. The film registers a slow start but gains momentum and energy following the scenes where Bharath's family arrives in Mangalore." FOR MORE READING CLICK THE TITLE.... Review: No Emotion only Atyachar!: Rediff.com movies: "Sukanya Verma reviews The Film Emotional Atyachar
At some point in the movie, a character scrapes the insides of another guy in a bid to take out a buried bullet. But like he eventually laments, everything comes out except the bullet. It's supposed to be one of the many outwardly dark and compulsorily humourous moments of this disjointed thriller. What the scene really does is involuntarily sum up the trouble with Akshay Shere's directorial debut, The Film Emotional Atyachar. It tries so visibly hard to be tough, murky, sassy and, most laughably, clever that it's impossible to find any redeeming aspects in its devoted wannabeism. Mostly what makes The Film Emotional Atyachar such a nauseous fare is its complete disregard for story, coherence and dialogue writing." Click the title for more reading... Rejecting the perception that there is a disconnect between his government and Congress party, Singh said that his Cabinet was functioning with much greater degree of cohesion than even the first Cabinet headed by Jawaharlal Nehru."
